Joe Milton announced his transfer from Michigan football earlier this offseason and now, according to reports, he will end up at Tennessee.

It wasn’t that long ago that Joe Milton was expected to be the next big thing at quarterback for Michigan football. But now, he will try to become the starter at Tennessee.

That’s according to a report from the Rocky Top Insider, which reported the following on Monday:

"“The Tennessee football program has added another quarterback to its roster. According to multiple sources, the former Wolverine has been admitted into Tennessee for the 2021 summer session and will join the football team once spring practice ends. He has already been getting to know some of his future teammates in Knoxville since he’s been around town.”"

While many Michigan football fans wondered where Milton would go once he left the Wolverines, it was pretty clear he wanted a chance to start or at least to compete for a starting job and Tennessee will offer him that opportunity.

The Vols have a new head coach in Josh Heupel who just happened to be the head coach at Central Florida, which is close to where Milton is from originally.

Milton may have struggled last season with the Wolverines but there’s no doubt about his arm talent. He’s got the size and arm strength to play in the NFL, he just needs to be refined and maybe Heupel is the guy to make that happen.

Here’s more from the Rocky Top Insider on the Vols QB competition:

"“Coming out of spring, the question for Josh Heupel was if he was comfortable with the QBs he already has on his roster. The addition of Milton should make the quarterback competition even tougher. How Heupel handles all of the scholarship QBs will be the question, as the room already consists of Brian Maurer, Hendon Hooker, Harrison Bailey, and potentially Kaidon Salter.”"

Adding Milton to the mix looks like a good move from the Tennessee perspective and it gives Joe a chance for a fresh start with an SEC program.

It feels like a solid move all around. Of course, he will have to prove plenty on the field in order to be the starter, but man, that will bug Michigan football fans if he goes to Knoxville and is a star.
