Breaking down what Michigan football’s starting offense could look like this fall, based on what we learned this spring.

We obviously didn’t get to watch Michigan football take part in its spring game this fall or even watch the Wolverines take part in a practice.

It’s definitely different from most other major programs. We got to see Ohio State play over the weekend, as well as USC, Alabama, and a number of others.

Yet, there’s been enough that’s leaked out about the spring to figure out what happened. There have even been some depth charts released.

But what the depth chart looks like right and what it will look like before the start of the 2021 season are two very different things. We’ll predict the starters for both sides of the ball starting with the offense and we begin with the quarterbacks.

QB: Cade McNamara

Matt Weiss, Michigan football’s new quarterbacks coach came out and said that Cade McNamara was the starter. That’s interesting because Alan Bowman hasn’t even had a chance to take part in the practices with the team.

He’s the most experienced signal-caller right now, but Weiss sounds very confident in McNamara and said he could have a 10-year NFL career.

J.J. McCarthy could be in the mix at some point but by all accounts this spring, his play was up and down, which you expect. But he flashed talent, including on this throw, so it feels like his time on the bench can only last for so long before he takes over.
