O-line turning heads

The offensive line was a bit of a struggle for Michigan football in 2020. There were injuries and inconsistency. Now, the Wolverines have a new O-line coach in Sherrone Moore who was previously the tight ends coach. He’s also a co-offensive coordinator.

While some questioned the hire and letting Ed Warinner go, so far, the offensive line has been positive in spring ball and a few guys, in particular, are getting noticed.

According to Chris Balas on the Wolverine Podcast, Zak Zinter has been a standout for the Wolverines this spring and in addition to working with the No. 1’s at right guard, he’s also been getting some snaps at center too.

Zinter is the guy who could have first-round potential on this offensive line and it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to upgrade the center position.

Right now, Andrew Vastardis is expected to start and he is batting Reece Atteberry for the job. Last season, Vastardis left a lot to be desired and if Zinter could handle the job, that could allow the Wolverines to roll with a potential interior of Zinter, Karsen Barnhart and Trevor Keegan.
