Mike Smith: A-

Smith could have shot the ball a little better against Florida State in the win for Michigan basketball, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t play a helluva game. After probably his worst game of the season against LSU, Smith rebounded in a huge way and it was great to see.

His two and-one buckets in the second half helped stop FSU from making another run and his quickness gave the Noles problems all game. He was only 3-for-9 from the field, but his eight points and four assists were huge. The most important stat: two turnovers. He handled the press with relative ease and U-M finished with only five turnovers.

It also had to feel good for Smith to show that even though he’s 5-foot-9, he can still impact the game, even against the tallest team in the country.

Eli Brooks: B

You know it’s a good day when the worst grade on your team is a B. Eli Brooks cooled off a little bit as a shooter, missing both of his 3-point attempts and going 3-for-9. Brooks was rushed a few times by Florida State and took a few shots in the mid-range he probably shouldn’t have.

But, his defense was superb as usual and he did score on two key cuts in the second half. Brooks also notched four assists and didn’t have a turnover.

It was another stellar showing and maybe since Brooks didn’t make any 3-pointers against Florida State, he will be due for a big shooting night against UCLA.
