Michigan Basketball: Who are the Florida State Seminoles?
Starters
Beginning with the backcourt, senior guard M.J. Walker leads a deep Seminoles squad at 12.3 points per game. He is an outstanding shooter from range as he comes into Sunday’s contest with a 3- 3-point percentage of 43.6% on 101 attempts. Walker also pitches in 2.6 assists to pair with 2.7 turnovers per night.
Joining Walker in the backcourt is another senior in 6′ 4″ guard RayQuan Evans. Evans is a bit inefficient, coming into the Sweet Sixteen with season-long shooting splits of 36.7% from the field and 36% from three. He only averages just north of five points per game but did score 24 points in 19 minutes against NC State in January. He has the ability to get hot but is consistently a single-digit scorer.
Moving on to the wing, 6′ 6″ Anthony Polite, the 23-year-old junior is one of four Seminoles who average double digits at 10.2 points per night. Polite is known for his 3-point shooting prowess where he knocks shots down at a 44% clip this season. Additionally, he led the team in scoring with 22 points against Colorado in the Round of 32.
In the frontcourt, the Seminoles have their second-leading scorer RaiQuan Gray. The junior stands 6′ 8″ and leads the team in rebounding at 6.5 boards per night. Gray does most of his scoring from inside the arc as he shoots below thirty percent from three and has only eight made threes this season.
Rounding out the starting five is the big man, 7’1″ Balsa Koprivica. Koprivica, only a sophomore, leads the team with 1.4 blocks per game while also pulling down 5.8 rebounds as well. He is a much better offensive than defensive rebounder as he ranks 31st nationally in offensive rebound percentage but only 243rd in defensive rebound percentage, both according to Kenpom.com.
