The recruiting dead period is finally ending at the end of May and Michigan football is already taking advantage with some top targets locking in visits.

It’s been over a year since recruits have been able to take official visits. But that time is coming soon and Michigan football isn’t wasting any time getting kids on campus.

Of course, the Wolverines have had a number of recruits take self-guided tours of campus such as Myles Pollard did last weekend and top-ranked defensive tackle in 2022, Walter Nolen, is set to do this weekend in Ann Arbor.

But in June, recruits can take official visits for real again and Michigan football is setting up a big weekend in June to host visitors and a number of top targets have already locked in that they are coming.

Lucas Heyer is one. The four-star offensive tackle already has a crystal ball projection to Michigan football and now the 6-foot-5, 307-pounder is taking an official visit this summer. Heyer is ranked 313th overall in the 2022 class and the 39th tackle via the 247 sports composite rankings.

While Michigan is after a number of wide receiver targets, one that it has been pushing for lately is four-star wideout Darius Clemons out of Portland, Oregon.

Clemons used to be from Michigan, so the Midwest could be a strong possibility as far as his destination. He’s 6-foot-3, 205 pounds and ranked 138th overall in 2022.

He also announced his intention to visit Ann Arbor in June. Clemons just picked up a couple of crystal ball picks to Oregon in recent weeks, but that same thing happened with Xavier Worthy and he still ended up with the Wolverines, so we’ll see.

Finally, the third 2022 recruit who announced his Intention to officially visit in June on Tuesday was four-star defensive end Joe Strickland.

Strickland is out of Indianapolis and is ranked No. 242 overall in the 247 composite rankings for 2022. He’s also ranked as the No. 12 strong-side defensive end.

Last month, Strickland picked up a crystal ball for Penn State, but that hasn’t been followed with any others and this is still a battle Michigan football can win.

We all know that getting kids on campus is a big help with that. Michigan and Penn State both have some solid momentum in 2022 recruiting right now and Strickland is a key target for both.

That will be interesting to watch, but with all three guys, you have to at least like Michigan’s chances now that U-M is getting an official visit.
