Michigan Basketball: How to watch vs LSU, what’s left in East Region
Michigan basketball will take on LSU on Monday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and here’s how to watch, plus an East Region update.
Two days of the NCAA Tournament are in the books and while Michigan basketball didn’t fall prey to the upset, plenty of teams in the Big Ten and the East Region did.
Ohio State, a No. 2 seed, and Purdue, a No. 4 seed went down on Friday, in the opening day of the tournament, and on Saturday, more chaos ensued as 14th-seeded Abilene Christian took down No. 3 Texas in the East Region, as well as Ohio taking down fourth-seeded Virginia.
Abilene Christian was the third double-digit seed to win in the opening round of the East Region, which means three of the eight teams left in Michigan basketball’s bracket are now 10 seeds or higher.
11th-seeded UCLA will now take on 14th-seeded Abilene Christian for a berth in the Sweet 16, with the winner to face either Alabama or Maryland. On the top side of the bracket, it’s been all chalk so far as Michigan basketball will face eighth-seeded LSU.
The Wolverines will then face the winner of Colorado, which drubbed Georgetown and Florida State, a team Michigan squared off against back in 2018 in the Elite 8.
People want to act like the Big Ten had a poor showing, but really, the conference went 6-3 and six of the 32 teams left are from the Big Ten including Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Rutgers, Maryland and Wisconsin.
We’ll see how many advance to the Sweet 16. For Michigan basketball, LSU is the team standing in the way of a fourth straight trip to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers routed St. Bonaventure on Saturday, as the Bonnies couldn’t buy a bucket from deep. Cameron Thomas scored 27 points for LSU but got 11 of those at the free-throw line.
LSU connected on 18 free throws, which was one less than Texas Southern had against Michigan, so the Wolverines will need to be careful. This is definitely going to be a battle and here’s how to watch on Monday.
