Bigs

Hunter Dickinson: B

Dickinson had some good moments and some bad moments in Michigan basketball’s win on Saturday. He only missed one shot from the field and made all of his free throws. However, he only secured two rebounds and fouled out after 23 minutes. He also had six turnovers as he struggled to pass the ball out of double teams and was sometimes, just too slow to react. Most importantly, Dickinson cannot get into foul trouble or the Wolverines lose their biggest edge over opponents.

Brandon Johns: B

For the most part, Johns played pretty well. He was 2-for-5 from the field but did a nice job of getting foul shots and making them, which led to 11 points. He also connected on a 3-pointer, which should help his confidence going forward. The downside is that he grabbed just two rebounds and didn’t play a great game defensively. Still, I like what I’ve seen from Johns in these first two games without Livers.

Austin Davis: B

Davis is what he is at this point: a bucket machine in the low post who can’t really defend and commits a lot of fouls. He works hard defensively and has improved his range, but there’s a reason he shouldn’t play more than 10 minutes. He scored seven points and got three buckets, but also had four fouls in 10 minutes. That’s just too many. Remember, foul shots essentially kept the Tigers in this game and the next team (LSU) is even more athletic and skilled. But for what he does, Davis is an asset, especially with his ability to almost always deliver a hoop when needed.
