Michigan football landed its seventh commitment in the 2022 recruiting class, but here’s a look at Myles Pollard, a cornerback who could be joining the Wolverines next.

Since the addition of Maurice Linguist as cornerbacks coach and co-defensive coordinator, Michigan football has been on a roll when it comes to recruiting the secondary.

Although Linguist hasn’t been on the staff that long. he’s already proven to be elite on the trail by winning the commitments of five-star cornerback Will Johnson, as well as four stars Taylor Groves and Kody Jones.

Michigan wouldn’t have gotten Groves and Jones without Linguist and his connections in the state of Tennessee and the same could be said about Johnson, as Linguist completely changed the complexion of that recruitment too.

Now, Linguist is turning his attention towards another target from Tennessee and that’s 6-foot-2 cornerback Myles Pollard.

Right now, Pollard is a high-ranking three-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 420 prospect overall in the class of 2022 according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Yet, Linguist and the Wolverines seem to have a much higher view of Pollard, who has elite size and they are putting on the full-court press, even getting Johnson to help out in this recruitment according to Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider. Here’s what Pollard told Webb:

“With Will there that’s big. That’s big time. He’s real good. I think we could definitely lock up some things on both sides”

Webb also notes that Johnson got on the Zoom call with Pollard and Linguist and is making an active effort to recruit others to play with him at Michigan.

Fans of Michigan football recruiting will also notice that Pollard is from the same high school as the current Michigan player and 2021 signee Junior Colson.

So there is some familiarity for Pollard, who just put out his top six — a top six that included the Wolverines. Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Washington, and Virginia Tech are the others, although Auburn offered earlier this week and could enter the mix.

While Pollard doesn’t have any crystal ball projections at this point, he does have one Michigan football recruiting expert predicting him to land in Ann Arbor and that’s EJ Holland of Rivals, who entered a Futurecast pick earlier this week.

As we have seen, once Linguist zeroes in on a recruit, he is able to close and we’ll see if that pattern continues with Pollard, who along with Johnson, would give Michigan football some elite size at corner in its 2022 recruiting class.
