1. Play in the present

One of the hardest things in sports and life is to let go of things that have happened in the past, especially if it was bad. Moving past bad experiences is tough and if anyone can give you a secret to doing that, then fill us in.

In sports, it is tough to get over a blowout loss, but that is exactly what the Wolverines need to do. They have done a great job of focusing on the game they are playing but almost all of them have come after a win and we all know that is much easier than a loss.

Michigan is coming off a blowout loss to Ilinois, but everything they have fought for this year is still ahead of them. Winning the Big Ten regular-season and securing a number one seed is still very much in play, but the Wolverines can’t get caught thinking about what might have been on Tuesday.

They would need to get over the past game no matter who they were playing, but even more since it is their in-state rival. Michigan State is playing as well as they have all year and will not just roll over for the Wolverines to take the conference crown.

Juwan Howard needs to make sure his team is refocused and ready to play this game. If they let the Illinois game linger over them, then they are prime to be upset and force a very big game on Sunday.

They need to chalk up the Illini game as an outlier and move on. If they can forget about that game and move on to this game they should be in good shape. We don’t think there will be a hangover with so much still to play for, but they are still college-aged kids and you never know what is going on in their minds. Get past the game and be ready to take the Spartan’s best shot.
