2. Don’t get caught looking ahead

The game at Indiana is the definition of a trap game. The Wolverines are coming off huge wins against Ohio State and Iowa and have a game with second-place Illinois coming up. It would be very easy to look past Indiana and just go through the motions.

The Wolverines could technically lose the game and still be in great shape to win the Big Ten and get a number one seed, but it complicates things. Beating them, as they should, just keeps Michigan in the driver’s seat for everything they are trying to accomplish this year.

Juwan Howard has done a great job of keeping the Wolverines focused and the way they have played it doesn’t seem like they will look past them. The only game this year it seemed like the Wolverines weren’t completely locked in was against Oakland early in the season. Since then they have taken every opponent seriously and it has been evidenced by the way they have won games.

This game needs to continue that trend. But with Illinois fans shouting from the rooftops that the Wolverines ducked them and how the Illini will take them down, it can be easy to be distracted.

Illinois will get its time, but not before the Wolverines need to play Indiana. Take care of business in Bloomington and then look ahead to Illinois. If it can stay focused, Michigan basketball should come away with a victory.
