The Michigan basketball team has another huge game on Thursday when they host the Iowa Hawkeyes. Or if you listen to all the Michigan haters out there, it will be the Wolverine’s first big game of the year. Unless the Wolverines win and then the Illini game will be their first big game.

For the reasonable people out there, the Wolverines are coming off one of the best college basketball games of the year. Michigan went into Columbus and came away with a win in the battle of two top-five teams.

It was the second straight tough road win for the Wolverines and showed any doubters out there that they can play and beat anyone. Michigan can quiet even more naysayers if they can come out with a win on Thursday night.

The Hawkeyes are playing better after a rough stretch where they lost four of five games. That stretch has basically eliminated them from winning the Big Ten. While it is not impossible, it would take a lot for the Hawkeyes to climb back to the top.

One of the things that would need to happen is for them to be the first team to win in Ann Arbor this year. The Wolverines have been dominant on their home court and it will look to continue that great play against Iowa.

A win Thursday and another this weekend against Indiana would put the Wolverines in prime position to claim an outright Big Ten championship. A huge accomplishment for a team picked by most to finish eighth or ninth at the beginning of the season.

But before we get too far ahead of ourselves we take a look at what the Wolverines need to do to take care of the Hawkeyes Thursday. Here are three keys for Michigan to pick up the win.
