Michigan beat OSU at own game

During their strong run recently, the Buckeyes have been dominating their opponents with ruthless efficiency at the 3-point line and by racking up free throw attempts.

However, leading up to the game and in part because of the way Michigan defends, as well as Ohio State (their 3-point defense isn’t good) you had a feeling that the Wolverines could equal the Buckeyes in these areas.

When it came to 3-point shooting, both teams made 11 from beyond the arc, although the Wolverines knocked down 10 of those in the first half. Michigan attempted 23 and Ohio State 22 so the percentages were about the same.

That was key and another big key was the advantage Michigan had at the line. The Buckeyes did a better job than expected defending 2-point field goal attempts.

But down the stretch, Eli Brooks was able to knife in for a couple of key makes and offensive rebounding also paid dividends.

But the 19-11 advantage for Michigan in free-throw makes, which was helped by leading late, was another reason the Wolverines left Columbus with a win.
