Guards

Mike Smith: B

This was going to be a test for Smith because Rutgers forces more turnovers than any other team in Big Ten play and while Michigan basketball had 11 total, Smith just had 12 and scored 12 points, while dishing out one assist.

There were a few times he used his skill and athleticism to score and that’s what Rutgers makes you do. Good thing Smith was up to the challenge.

Eli Brooks: B

In terms of plus-minus, Eli Brooks actually had a better night than Mike Smith and he was the third-best player in the starting lineup behind Wagner and Livers. The reason for that is defense. Brooks was ranked only behind Davis in defensive rating and he was crucial in making Rutgers scratch and claw to reach 60 points.

Brooks only scored four points, but he dished out four assists and also had three rebounds and a steal in the victory.
