O-line: Ryan Hayes, Zak Zinter, Reece Atteberry, Trevor Keegan, Willie Allen.

The offensive line may have as much competition as any position group on the offense. A bunch of guys got experience last year due to injuries and different lineups and there’s a ton of question marks.

Jalen Mayfield is gone and former starting center Zach Carpenter has transferred to Indiana. Reece Atteberry seems to be destined to take over that spot, although he will need to hold off freshman Raheem Anderson, who is going to be the starting center sooner rather than later.

I also think Karsen Barnhart could make a push to start at either tackle spot and could wind up as the swing guy. While Michigan will return veterans such as Andrew Stueber and Chuck Filiaga, they weren’t all that impressive last season and will need to earn their jobs back.

Trevor Keegan wasn’t perfect when he played and Filiaga got better as the year went on, but Keegan looked more capable of moving guys. I don’t know how many times I saw Filiaga go backwards or get zero push in a short-yardage situation. He’s fine as a backup.

Last year, it seemed like some of the younger talent was held back to give veterans a chance to play such as Andrew Vastardis. That just can’t happen at this level.

Jim Harbaugh needs to deliver on his words of Michigan being a meritocracy and that’s something that really needs to ring true on the offensive line next fall.
