It was only a matter of time before Michigan football expanded the quarterback board in the recruiting class of 2022 and on Monday, the Wolverines sent out two new offers.
One of those was to three-star quarterback Drew Allar, a 6-foot-5 pro-style passer out of Ohio. Allar is out of Medina, Ohio and is ranked 513th overall in the class of 2022, as well as the No. 24 pro-style passer and 19th-best player in Ohio according to the 247 sports composite rankings.
It’s not surprising that Michigan football offered Allar for two reasons: 1. The Wolverines needed to expand their quarterback board as detailed here and second, Allar is the definition of a rising prospect as Penn State, Texas A&M and Kentucky have offered in the last two days.
Watching his highlights, it’s easy to see why and at this point, it wouldn’t be a stretch to see Allar become a top target. He’s got great size and a strong arm, as well as accuracy down the field.
Very excited to receive an offer from the University of Michigan!!! Thank you @Coach_Gattis @UMichFootball @CoachJim4UM @MedinaFootball_ #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/kSzWizzRC7

The offensive system Allar runs in high school is basically always out of the shotgun and even though he’s more a thrower, he does show some running ability. He’s at least familiar with making the reads and keeping it.
What I like the most about him is the ability to push the ball down the field. He also showed great anticipation over the middle and did a great job throwing the ball in traffic.
Iowa State and Iowa are also in the mix and offered a few months back, so it will be interesting to see who else gets involved, but with options narrowing, there’s a lot to like.
Another 2022 QB offer for Michigan
While Allar could be a legit target, Michigan football offered another quarterback in 2022 on Monday and that’s Cade Klubnik, a four-star recruit out of Texas.
Like Allar, Klubnik has been picking up offers recently and in just the last two weeks has been offered by Penn State, Florida and Texas A&M. Georgia, Texas and Florida State are some others in the mix, although the Seminoles and Bulldogs just landed 2022 commitments at quarterback.
All glory to God! Blessed to receive an offer from The University of Michigan!! 〽️〽️〽️ @Coach_Gattis pic.twitter.com/FEkqWys7JN

Klubnik would be huge addition for the Wolverines and is ranked sixth among pro-style quarterbacks in the 2022 class, as well as 155th overall according to the 247 composite rankings.
Michigan recruiting expert for Rivals, EJ Holland talked about Klubnik months ago and there’s a lot of like about his ability. During the 2020 high school season, he threw 35 touchdown passes and had just three interceptions. He also ran for 583 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Michigan is still searching nationally for its 2022 QB. I would take a hard look at Westlake’s Cade Klubnik (@CadeKlubnikQB). Has his team up 30-0 in the 3rd Q after this TD strike. #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/zAWKtmbsbh

Whether Michigan can emerge as a favorite with either remains to be seen, but at the very least, it’s good to see U-M get in the mix with some new targets, because things weren’t trending in the right direction.
