Guards

Mike Smith: C-

Without Eli Brooks, Mike Smith was put in a tough spot but when you turn the ball over 20 times, it’s hard to say the point guard played well, even if he was only responsible for three turnovers. Smith was 0-for-6 from the field and didn’t score a point. He dished out 10 assists but it’s clear how much Michigan basketball needs Brooks in the backcourt with him.

Chaundee Brown: B

Brown started in place of Brooks and led the Wolverines in scoring with 14 points, however it took him 12 shot attempts to get there. Brown drilled a couple of 3-pointers and after one in the second half, it looked like Michigan basketball might actually have a chance. His defense was solid too, but he had four fouls and three turnovers, which dropped his grade a little.

Zeb Jackson: F

It’s safe to say the most disappointing performance of the day belonged to Zeb Jackson who had a chance to play some key minutes with Brooks out and failed to deliver. In the second half, Jackson missed some ill-advised 3-pointers and went 0-for-3 in addition to two turnovers. He clearly isn’t ready and hasn’t looked ready all year.
