Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from demolition of Wisconsin
By Nick Popio
Hunter Dickinson is human after all
The five time freshman of the week in the Big Ten had an off night from his recent performances. The future lottery pick only notched 12 for the outing, which turned out to not be a factor in the outcome of the win for Michigan. Credit has to be given to the Badgers for what ended up being about the only thing positive for them in the blowout.
Four of the five starters had double digits in scoring. Mike Smith stood the tallest with 16, while Wagner put in 15 more to his hot play of late.
Wagner also shot 70% from the floor and worked for his 10 rebounds on the defensive end of the court. Isaiah Livers hit three from deep to make a dent on the stat sheets with 13 as well.
Austin Davis returned to action to spell Dickinson as his backup this time around. Getting Davis back is under the radar huge for Juwan Howard’s bunch because it lets Brandon Johns go back to playing the power forward spot instead of being Dickinson’s primary reserve off the pine.
Having Davis come off the bench is vitally essential as to how Howard can then use Dickinson the way he has definitively cemented his niche in this lineup.
