Hunter Dickinson scores 20

As mentioned previously, I do think Wisconsin will have an effective game exploiting the mismatches they have with their big men on offense. But there is no doubt in my mind that Michigan will have a mismatch of their own with Dickinson on the offensive end of the floor.

For as good as Reuvers and Potter are on offense, neither of them really thrives on defense. I don’t see a scenario where Dickinson doesn’t have his way with those two guys in the post.

And to be fair, Dickinson has had his way with everyone in the post so far this season. So I’m not singling out those two players at all. We are getting to the point where it just feels unlikely that Dickinson will have a bad game. Obviously it will happen eventually, but we have seen no evidence to support that a bad game from him is imminent.

This feels like a game where each team’s big men may have their way on offense and not have too much of a chance on defense. That is also what we thought about Liam Robbins for Minnesota in the last game for Michigan, and Hunter dominated that matchup.

So even though this game appears to be a bad matchup for Dickinson, you can’t count him out to hold his own on defense.

Michigan basketball may also be getting some good news tomorrow. Juwan Howard did inform the media that Austin Davis has been practicing the last two days and will be a game time decision for the Wolverines on Tuesday night. So Michigan could be getting some big man depth back.
