Chet Holmgren

Now, moving on to the guy that I’m sure most people clicked on this article to read about. Yes, Michigan basketball is very much still in on Chet Holmgren. He is the best player in the 2021 class and is probably the best player in all of high school regardless of class.

Please, if you haven’t watched highlights of Chet Holmgren, stop what you are doing and go watch now. He can shoot, pass, dribble, rim protect, defend, and whatever else you need him to do on the basketball court. Even if Juwan was set on not adding to this class, he would absolutely find room if it meant adding a guy like Holmgren.

I was skeptical of Holmgren at first because of his slim frame. But once you see what he does against the best high school competition, that skepticism goes away very fast. His slender frame doesn’t hurt him, just like it never hurt Kevin Durant.

There has been buzz lately that a decision could be coming very soon for Holmgren. Gonzaga holds the only crystal ball so far but there hasn’t been a flurry of predictions just yet that would indicate it’s a done deal.

As a Michigan basketball fan, I’m kind of looking at it like this: Let’s hope for the best. It would be the cherry on top of an amazing recruiting class. And if Michigan does end up missing on him, oh well.

He would fit into Juwan’s position-less basketball very nicely and would be a day one star. But you can say that about pretty much every school involved. Chet is a player that is so versatile and will fit in almost any scheme.

So, will Michigan basketball still add to their 2021 class? It definitely could happen. But I think Juwan would only do it if it was for Efton Reid or Chet Holmgren.
