Michigan Basketball: Team awards for Wolverines after 10 games
By Max S.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Michigan basketball is off to a blistering hot start and are being talked about as one of the best teams in the country.
Michigan basketball has started its season10-0 and is sitting alone on top of the Big Ten standings. The Wolverines were picked to finish anywhere between 5th and 8th in the conference this year and have certainly exceeded expectations so far.
They play with pace, discipline, and seem like they are already one of the most connected teams in college basketball. Michigan shoots it well, defend well, and rebound well. That’s a pretty good recipe for success.
There is not one guy on this roster that I can single out as having an underwhelming season. The veterans are playing well, the freshman have made a huge impact, and the transfers have fit in beautifully. If the season ended today, I think Juwan Howard would get serious consideration for national coach of the year with how well he has this team playing.
Michigan was fortunate to play a relatively weak schedule to start, but the Wolverines have proven themselves to be a legit contender after back-to-back wins over ranked teams in their last two games.
Since the game against Penn State this weekend has been canceled, and Michigan basketball doesn’t play until the 12th, I thought it would be a good time to take a step back and give out some midseason awards.
The awards that I will be giving out are MVP, defensive MVP, most improved, most underrated, and most consistent. Let’s start with MVP.
