We are now in 2021 and Michigan football still has no idea what their future holds in regards to head coach Jim Harbaugh.

I’m tired of writing about it. You’re probably tired of reading about. The fans, players, and media member are growing restless. But the Jim Harbaugh rumors are still going insane and the fact is, the future of Michigan football remains unclear.

A new report today came out today from WTOL’s Jordan Strack where he indicated that Jim Harbaugh has been actively working on finding an NFL job. That report contradicts many others from late last week that said that the NFL is not what has been holding up the extension.

New Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football rumors come out all the time. And they are often times dismissed as click bait or hit pieces. So if you’re reading this, I understand the skepticism of that tweet from Jordan Strack.

However, I have known Jordan Strack for many years and there’s not too many people in sports media more respected than him. He does it the right way and does not report B.S.

So I do believe this specific report to absolutely be factual.

This does not mean Harbaugh is leaving for the NFL. He may even sign his extension this week exactly like what was reported last week from various people. But what it does tell me is that it confirms that there was at least some interest from Jim Harbaugh about leaving.

With the New York Jets and the San Diego Chargers jobs now open, and Harbaugh still not having his extension signed, of course it’s fair to speculate about the future.

Jim Harbaugh or the Michigan athletic department has no business complaining about the rumors or bad media that the program is getting right now. It’s all self inflicted.

As a Michigan football fan, I just hope that this saga ends soon. It’s been tiring to follow and has not done the program any good. It still amazes me that it is January 4th, 2020 and the future of the program is just as unclear as it was a month ago.
