Michigan Basketball: The legend of Hunter Dickinson continues to grow
Rest of the Big Ten better watch out
I am not certain that Michigan basketball will play all of its remaining 17 games of its conference season due to potential COVID-19 postponements or cancellations, but I am certain that Hunter Dickinson will show up each and every time Michigan is scheduled to and he will be an extremely efficient low post scorer who grabs double digit rebounds every night, block a couple shots and alter a few more.
The rest of the Big Ten should be scared. Yes Dickinson is older for a freshman (he is 20 but is younger than Kofi Cockburn was during his freshman season in 2019) but he is not going anywhere anytime soon.
As Iowa’s Luka Garza highlighted last season, even a highly productive low post centric center is not as desirable in the NBA as it once was.
For Dickinson to make an early jump to the Association he will need to develop a perimeter shooting stroke (I believe he can as he is willing to shoot the three already) and become at least respectable defending the ball handler in the pick and roll (the jury is still out on that).
As good as Hunter Dickinson is he has an enormous amount of potential still left to realize, and potentially four more seasons to do it at the University of Michigan.
The rest of the Big Ten should buckle up because he is only going to get better from here. Wolverine fans can sit back, relax, and watch Dickinson evolve into every other team’s most hated player — because they wish they had him.
