Michigan Football: Wolverines make cut list for in-state WR’s
Michigan football made the cut list for a pair of in-state wide receivers in the recruiting class of 2022.
You would think that things would slow down after the early signing period came to an end but as far as Michigan football is concerned, recruiting news has been pretty steady.
The Wolverines have picked up a pair of commitments since landing 20 signees on early signing day and now a number of other 2022 recruits are moving their decisions forward.
One of Michigan’s top targets in the class of 2022, which is Dillon Tatum of West Bloomfield, tweeted out: 1/1/21 on Sunday. That appears to be a reference to the release of his own cut list but you never know.
That was just one bit of news from the past few days. Another thing of note is that Michigan football recently offered a new quarterback in the class of 2022 and as we all know, quarterback offers are always a little more significant.
On top of that, Michigan football made new cut lists for a pair of in-state wide receivers this weekend. Tay’shawn Trent is one of those wide receivers as the Wolverines cracked his final eight.
Michigan State, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana, Penn State and West Virginia also made the list, although the Spartans seem like the biggest threat. There are no expert picks from 247 sports or Rivals right now.
Trent is from Eastpointe, Michigan and he’s ranked 267th overall according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s also the 37th-ranked wideout and seventh in the state of Michigan.
Another in-state wide receiver includes Michigan
The Wolverines also made the top nine for three-star wideout Tyrell Henry. Henry is out of Roseville, Michigan and is ranked a little lower than Trent. He’s listed as the No. 553 player overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and 18th in the state.
The Wolverines were one of nine teams to make the list for Henry, Syracuse, West Virginia, Michigan State, Nebraska, Cincinnati and Penn State are some of the other contenders.
Michigan State is currently the favorite and owns a couple of crystal ball projections but his recruitment is far from a done deal and the Wolverines are likely the biggest threat outside of Michigan State depending on how hard they push.
Of course, all recruiting efforts would be help if the head coaching situation is figured out but until then, it’s business as usual.
