Wings

Franz Wagner: A

This was the best game of the young Michigan basketball season for Franz Wagner and it was good to see him have a breakout game of sorts. He scored 20 points and attempted 16 shots after averaging just 6.7 shot attempts coming into the game. He didn’t shoot as well from deep at 2-of-7, but he was 7-of-9 on two-pointers and was tremendous attacking the basket with drives and cuts. He moves without the ball so well and when his 3-point shoot gets going, he’s going to look like the All-Big Ten player we thought he would be. He also grabbed nine rebounds, dished out two assists and played a key role on defense in slowing down Allen in the second half.

Isaiah Livers: A

If you look the plus or minus from the box score, Livers was the top performer for Michigan basketball in the win over Nebraska and he put together a strong second half after a cold start from the field. The great thing about Livers is that he believes in his shot and he continues to shoot even when he’s missed a few and Friday, it paid off as he canned 3 treys in the second half as Michigan pulled away. He also grabbed five boards and dished out four assists. And really, this was the best that Livers-Wagner have played together offensively and that was great to see.

Chaundee Brown: A

Brown’s strong game off the bench makes it A’s across the board for the wings. But if you look at the numbers, it’s hard to argue Brown could have played better. He scored 13 points in 16 minutes of action. He made a triple and was 5-of-8 total from the field, while also grabbing five rebounds. He’s been exceptional and no sixth man has been better in the Big Ten.
