Michigan basketball notched its first road win of the season at Nebraska and here are three takeaways from the Wolverines win.

There’s no doubt that winning on the road is probably easier in the 2020-21 season than it has been before. Pinnacle Bank Arena was certainly a lot kinder to Michigan basketball without all the screaming fans who are usually in the seats.

Instead on Christmas Day, there were only cutouts. Of course, Michigan basketball is playing under the same circumstances at home. Still, winning on the road is never easy and Michigan put together a strong second-half effort to notch the 11-point win, easily covering the spread.

Nebraska was held to 39 percent shooting and Michigan’s strategy of limiting 3-point attempts worked as the Huskers made seven but only shot 20 when they average shooting 28.

At any rate, it was a solid win and here are three immediate takeaways from the win:

Wagner/Livers play well off each other

One thing we haven’t really seen this season is having both Wagner and Livers on their games at the same time, at least on the offensive end.

Wagner has been very passive this season and has averaged less than seven shots per game. That’s not what you expected at the start of the season and on Friday, Wagner attempted a team-high 16 shots. He bombed seven 3-pointers and attacked the bucket.

Livers was good too and between the two players, there was five made 3-pointers which was a big part of the separation Michigan gained in the second half.

It’s also a very good sign for the future.
