Michigan Football poised to add 2022 commitment in Connor Jones
Michigan football should be able to keep its momentum going on the recruiting trail Thursday as 2022 recruit Connor Jones should choose the Wolverines.
While much of the focus surrounding Michigan football has been centered on the Jim Harbaugh situation and the fact that defensive coordinator Don Brown was fired on Tuesday, the Wolverines have been making progress on the recruiting trail and are poised to pick up another commitment.
This is expected to come from 2022 offensive tackle Connor Jones, a 6-foot-7 recruit out of the state of Colorado. Jones recently visited Michigan on a self-guided tour which was last weekend and then he announced he would make his decision Thursday.
Jones is going to announce his commitment at 8:15 EST time on Christmas Eve (6:15 MST) and right now all signs are pointing towards Michigan.
Days after Jones visited, Rivals Michigan recruiting expert EJ Holland placed a Futurecast pick for Jones to go to the Wolverines and then shortly after that, the crystal ball picks from 247 sports started trending to Michigan football too.
So far there have been just two crystal ball predictions but there hasn’t been any sign of any other team being a contender and for the most part, self-guided visits just before decision day have been a good sign for whichever school gets the visit.
In this instance, I’d say it’s just about guaranteed that Jones picks U-M. He’s ranked No. 774 overall and 78th among tackles. But it’s still early in the 2022 process and with many lower ranked guys Michigan has recruited, they have later gotten a big bump, such as Tristan Bounds, who wasn’t ranked that much higher and is now a four-star prospect.
Tune in tomorrow for the decision.
Junior Colson puts any fears to rest/Wright releases top seven
Following the dismissal of Don Brown, Junior Colson expressed some shock on Twitter and that made you think he didn’t know what was coming.
But when he spoke on Thursday to Holland, he said he was excited to get to work as a Michigan football player ending any speculation he might want out of his letter of intent.
That’s very good to hear because Colson was the Wolverines top defensive recruit and the only top-100 player on that side of the ball to sign.
However, that could change as Michigan is still in the mix for four-star cornerback Ceyair Wright, who released his final top list Wednesday night and included the Wolverines.
The Wolverines seem to have built momentum since early singing day and we’ll see if that translates.
