Michigan Basketball: 3 Predictions for Wolverines vs Penn State
Michigan will beat Penn State at the 3-point line
A deciding factor in this game is going to be 3-point shooting and even though you can say that about a number of games, it’s really going to be true on Sunday.
Penn State comes into this one making 11.7 3-pointers per game and shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc. The Nittany Lions are also attempting 29.8 3-pointers per game and all three of numbers rank in the top 70 nationally.
But on the other side of the things, Michigan works very hard to limit 3-point attempts and 3-point makes. At least that was an emphasis last year under Howard and it hasn’t translated as well this year. U-M is allowing more than 24 attempts and eight makes per game.
Yet, as they showed in the first half against Toledo, the Wolverines are capable of slowing down a 3-point offense and without Davis, the rotations should be a little more crisp on defense.
Plus, on the other end of the floor, the Wolverines are shooting 35 percent from deep and with their dominance in the paint, which should continue, it should lead to enough open looks that Michigan will be even or win the 3-point battle.
