Chaundee Brown has been a perfect fit

Dickinson has been one really effective newcomer for the Michigan basketball team and another has been former Wake Forest transfer Chaundee Brown.

Last season, Michigan really missed that big two-guard type who could knock down 3-point shots and defend bigger wings. Isaiah Livers and Franz Wagner are very capable wings offensively, but they can’t effectively guard the two, at least not the way Brown can.

But, with the addition of Mike Smith at point guard, it has made more sense to play Brown coming off the bench and it’s turned out to be a genius move by Howard.

Brown is currently sixth on the team in minutes (21) but third on the team in points with an average of 12 per game. He’s shooting 51 percent overall and an impressive 46 percent from 3-point range with 12 makes.

Not many former starters would come to a team and be accepting of a role as a sixth man, but Brown has taken to it perfectly and there’s no doubt in my mind he will be the Big Ten’s Sixth Man of the Year when it’s all said and done.

His defensive versatility and instant ability to be a starter if needed for injury or other reasons, also makes him extremely valuable. Adding him was an absolute home run.
