The offense was lights out

As slowly as Michigan started the game, the Wolverines finished with a really strong effort that put them at 1.17 points per possession and that’s even with the bench being cleared.

That number also includes a night in which Livers, Wagner and Mike Smith combined to score just 17 points and made one 3-point shot between them. For Livers, it seemed to be a rare off night but for Wagner, it was the continuation of early-season struggles.

At times, Franz has forced the issue and that has gotten him into foul trouble. I’d like to see him hunt his shot more especially from the outside, but the clean looks have been harder to come by.

That’s the luxury of having Brown coming off the bench. If either of those guys aren’t struggling or if both are as they were last night, you have a high-level shooter with position versatility in Brown coming off the bench.

Brown has been a bit streaky, but he has made 11 3-pointers in four games and is knocking 44 percent of those shots. So far he’s been exactly what the Wolverines needed.

Another key stat from Sunday was the turnovers. After averaging 17.5 the last two games, Michigan was much better against a team known for forcing turnovers. U-M had just 10 and even though Smith struggled to shoot, he turned it over just twice compared to four assists.
