3 Takeaways from Michigan Basketball’s victory over Central Florida
After a slow start, Michigan basketball put together its most impressive performance of the season and here are three takeaways.
There was an expectation that Central Florida was capable of giving Michigan basketball some trouble as the most talented team the Wolverines had faced so far this season.
And that proved to be true, especially with a sluggish start for the Wolverines. The defense allowed way too many easy buckets and on the other end of the floor, Michigan couldn’t buy a basket.
The Wolverines desperately needed a spark and thankfully, the bench was there to provide one with 49 points total and three different players in double figures. Obviously, that rotation may need to change but we’ll get to that in a minute.
Here’s three immediate takeaways from the Wolverines win:
The Wolverines are deep
So much for the rotation getting shortened. Michigan basketball is going to go nine deep this season with the starting five plus Chaundee Brown, Brandon Johns, Hunter Dickinson and Terrance Williams off the bench.
Of course, if Hunter Dickinson doesn’t crack the starting five soon, people are going to blow a gasket and rightfully so. But the takeaway from this game is that the Wolverines are going to cause a lot of problems with all their different lineups.
Williams, Brown and Johns can call play multiple spots — all of them are solid two-way players and can shoot the ball from deep. This is the second time that Brown has come off the bench to lead the Wolverines in scoring and if he continues to play that way, he should win Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year.
