Wagner builds on Ball State

As far as size and athleticism, UCF is much more on par with Michigan basketball than its previous opponents. Dawkins has recruited some talented players and that means that guys like Wagner are going to have to show out more in this one.

The good news is that Wagner connected on 4-of-6 shots against Ball State and even better was that he made all five of his free throws. Those are confidence builders and that is the one thing Franz needed early in the season — confidence.

He has made just one 3-pointer and it took over 60 minutes of game action before it came, but now some should start to come in waves. Franz has put together extended stretches of strong play before and after a slow start, I think he finally starts to establish himself more.

And this is game too where he should continue to attack the basket and attack close-outs. Franz has shown some significant improvement in my eyes as an interior finisher and he was already pretty good in that regard last season.

Sunday, he will show that even more, while also hitting a couple of 3-balls.
