Michigan Basketball: 3 Predictions for Wolverines against Oakland
Will Michigan win this game and cover?
According to Fanduel, the Wolverines come into Sunday’s game against Oakland as a 28.5 point favorite and while that’s a big number there is a good chance Michigan will cover.
The Grizzlies aren’t just facing a tough schedule early in the season, but they have also haven’t had their best player fully healthy as Rashad Williams, who scored 19 points a game last season, has averaged just 11 minutes and four points a game so far this season.
Obviously, that will change if he gets healthy and if he can play more minutes against Michigan, it will help Oakland’s cause, which has just one double-digit scorer right now in point guard Jalen Moore, who is averaging 13 points and 10 assists.
It will be interesting to see how the defense responds after not playing all that well against Bowling Green. I think Michigan will be engaged on that end of the floor and that will help the Wolverines grab a stable lead in the first half.
After that, I do think we’ll see Howard clear his bench more than he did against Bowling Green and if all goes to plan, some of the younger guys can get some valuable experience, although more time for top 8 guys to gel wouldn’t be bad either.
At the end of the day though, unless something really crazy happens, Michigan should win the game and unless the offense struggles to shoot from deep, it should cover.
Final score prediction: Michigan 103, Oakland 68
