Michigan Basketball: 3 Predictions for Wolverines against Oakland
Offense keeps performing at a high level
A big question for the Wolverines prior to Wednesday’s opening game against Bowling Green was who would be the point guard? Mike Smith answered that question pretty clearly and we’ll see if the offense can keep up its pace of 1.32 points per possession.
Against an Oakland defense that has struggled this year, it shouldn’t be that hard but the Wolverines will need to make more perimeter shots. It will be interesting to see how Smith is able to create shots for guys like Wagner, Isaiah Livers, Eli Brooks and Chaundee Brown.
Smith is lightning quick and penetrating should be able to get that ball movement started. The Wolverines should be able to work the ball inside some to Austin Davis and Hunter Dickinson, but the focal point will be the 3-point shot.
Michigan knocked down 10 3-pointers against Bowling Green and I’d expect that number to reach double figures again on Sunday, with multiple players knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc. When it’s all said and done, if U-M has a good day, it should crack 100.
