Quarterbacks

Milton – D

McNamara – A

Joe Milton got the start last night to the surprise of probably a lot of the Michigan faithful. He was replaced by McNamara against Wisconsin and the offense finally looked like it had some life last week. But Milton was back leading the offense to start the game and looked like a lot of the same.

The first drive did look like it was going to be different until Johnson fumbled, and then it all went downhill for Milton.

When he was in rhythm he looked good, but once it started going bad he looked lost again. Milton looks to be a quarterback that plays well but if it changes it is all over. He is lacking that fight to get through it and it has cost Michigan.

McNamara on the other hand looked the part. He came in and led a quick touchdown drive just like he did against Wisconsin and then he didn’t let up. He led a scoring drive in all but one possession in regulation and then two more in the overtimes.

He looks confident makes good throws and seems to have a better connection with the receivers. His performance last night should have secured his spot as the starting quarterback for the rest of the year. It also brought up questions about how the last three games would have gone if he was the starter.

Milton looked good against Minnesota but has lacked confidence since. Michigan State rattled him and he hasn’t recovered. McNamara on the other hand has handled it and helped bring Michigan back.

He is at least one of the very few bright spots for Michigan football and gives the fans something to look forward to the rest of the year.
