Michigan Football: Grading the offense in win against Rutgers
By Adam Childs
Running Backs – B
Finally, in the middle of the third quarter, Josh Gattis and Jim Harbaugh realized that Hassan Haskins has been the best back for the Wolverines and let him prove it. We barely heard his name in the first half, but he ended up with 25 carries for 109 yards.
He ran hard, fought for yards, and made plays when it seemed like nothing was there. He wasn’t flashy and didn’t break any big runs, but Michigan football does not win this game without him.
McNamara might have stolen the show but Haskins was the guy that gave them balance and let him shine. Zach Charbonnet had some good runs also and like I mentioned in the keys to the game, he and Haskins should be the ones running the ball. Blake Corum does some nice things, but he isn’t quite there yet.
Hopefully, last night will show the coaching staff that Haskins should be the feature back and on the field a majority of the time. Charbonnet is a good relief back and could be the feature if given the chance also.
But last night was all about Haskins and he gave the Wolverines exactly what they needed. If this was just a grade for Haskins I would give him an A.
