Michigan Football: 5 Things we learned from wild win at Rutgers
Harbaugh hasn’t lost the team
People can make fun of Jim Harbaugh for celebrating Rutgers’ missed field goal in overtime but he was coaching his butt off and he was happy for his team. And one thing I can say about this Michigan football team is that it hasn’t quit on Harbaugh.
Down 17-0, if Michigan wanted to quit, it could have. The Wolverines could have even thrown in the towel after the missed field goal in overtime, but they kept fighting. The offense, even before McNamara went into the game was playing more physical and the defense was too.
These guys battled and even though they made a ton of mistakes, at one point, the Wolverines outscored Rutgers 35-10, which shows what this team is capable of.
Michigan was missing three offensive lineman, its best defensive lineman, its best linebacker and also its best corner and receiver which opted out before the season and still, it found a way to rally.
It was an ugly win, about as ugly as they get, but sometimes you have to win ugly before it can start to look pretty and I’m just glad to be waking up with a win.
