Michigan Football: 3 Takeaways from overtime win over Rutgers
By Nick Popio
The bleeding has stopped for now.
It took to triple overtime, but Jim Harbaugh‘s bunch out-dueled the Scarlet Knights to secure the win. Something good can be talked about no matter how bad it really played out on the field.
That’s been lacking for nearly a month now and can hopefully raise their spirits to get them to regroup by putting a few wins together before the inevitable bus ride to Columbus at season’s end.
The defense was still mighty sloppy in the victory. They gave up almost 500 yards of offense and only recorded one turnover. Rutgers was able to do whatever they wanted for most of the evening and that is eerily frightening for Don Brown’s unit going forward. More of the same should be expected from them with no answers to their all around awful execution.
Now the focus can shift to putting a winning streak together. Michigan football will most likely be favored to come out on top of their next two games. It won’t be easy by any means, but it’s not an insurmountable task to accomplish either.
Turning the corner towards Thanksgiving week and having more of the same results that can keep this positive run going is totally needed for everyone within the organization.
