A Michigan RB finally gets double-digit carries

The stat about Michigan football not getting a sack of turnover in 15 straight quarters is pretty stunning, of course that ended last week. But another whacky stat is that through four games, not a single Wolverines back has run 10 times in a single game.

It really makes you question Josh Gattis because this running back rotation has been beyond stupid. Last week, Hassan Haskins and Zach Charbonnet, who are each averaging at least seven yards per attempt this season, combined for four carries. Blake Corum had more himself, even though he is getting three yards per attempt.

Both Corum and Chris Evans are getting less than four yards per rush. So guess what? Don’t give them the ball anymore. Throw it to them but give running backs who are getting yards the ball.

It’s a novel concept, I know, but hopefully, the Michigan coaching staff can figure it out this week, because Rutgers just allowed more than 300 yards to Illinois.

I know a lot of what Charbonnet got was on one run and Haskins too, but still, last week Zach ran three times for 21 yards. These guys need a chance to establish a rhythm. Enough with the reads, put Ben Mason out there and run it right down the throat of Rutgers.

And if this program can’t do that, there are some serious, serious issues.
