Michigan Football: 3 Keys for Wolverines against Rutgers
By Adam Childs
The Michigan football team heads to Rutgers for another Saturday night game. What do they need to do to snap out of their three-game slide?
To say that the last three have been disastrous for Michigan football would be an understatement. The Wolverines lost to their rival who is not good, got beat by Indiana for the first time in 33 years, and then they were humiliated in primetime at home against Wisconsin.
They have looked lifeless and frankly just plain bad. The defense is not stopping anyone. The offense is not moving the ball and the coaches all look like they rather be somewhere else. If this keeps up they will be somewhere else.
The excitement from the Minnesota game is long since gone and now the Wolverines are just fighting to make it to a bowl game. The good news is they have three very winnable games coming up even with how poorly they have played.
The season may be a bust for winning the Big Ten, but they still have four games to try and right the ship and have a good ending to the year.
First up is Rutgers, who is still not a great football team, but much improved from previous years. They knocked off Michigan State in the first game and have been competitive in their others.
Remember the transitive property doesn’t work in sports, so just because the Scarlet Knight beat the Spartans does not mean they will definitely win against Michigan.
If Michigan football plays like it has the last three weeks then it won’t matter who has beat who, they will lose.
Win or lose the Michigan faithful will still expect more and hopefully, the Wolverines can show some signs of life this week. It may seem like a meaningless game, but there is still a lot to play for. So what do they need to do to pick up a win Saturday? We take a look at three keys for the Wolverines to return victorious.
