3. They have no captain on the field

This could be tied in with the team having no fire, but it still needs to be said. We just said it starts at the top, but you still need someone on the field leading the way and it just doesn’t seem like that guy is out there.

I miss the days of a guy like Chase Winovich leading the defense.  You never had a doubt who was in charge of that defense and where the swagger was.

Kwity Paye and Aidan Hutchinson are very good players but both were out last night, but even when they were in there, they didn’t seem like the captain type. They did their talking by their play, which is not a bad thing, but they need something more.

The offense is severely lacking in this area also. Milton is only in his first year starting, but there seems to be zero fire in him. He needs to be the one in charge on the field but he just doesn’t seem to be there. But even if the quarterback doesn’t have the rah-rah attitude somebody else could step up.

Yes leadership comes from the top, but they need an extension on the field. They need a player that isn’t afraid to hold the other players accountable and get in their face. Tom Brady never had that problem and no one ever had a doubt who was in charge of that team. Even a calm player like Peyton Manning still had that leadership mentality and his Colts team need it.

The Wolverines need to get a captain on that field and if there isn’t then Harbaugh needs to challenge someone to step up into that role. They can’t just keep going through games lifeless without anyone picking anybody up.
