Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from humiliating Wisconsin loss
By Nick Popio
Joe Milton is regressing at a weekly pace.
One can only wonder how Milton beat out Dylan McCaffrey as the presumed starter for the season. McCaffrey was ahead of Milton on the depth chart for obvious reasons heading into 2020 until something changed for the wrong way.
We may never know the truth as to why McCaffrey is really transferring and supposedly got beat out for the starting quarterback position altogether.
With that said, Milton has lost all his steam that he gained in the Minnesota win that feels like it happened several months ago. He should have thrown more than two interceptions on the night and is lucky that he didn’t. He got pulled in the third and there’s no certainty he will regain that spot anytime soon.
However, Cade McNamara replaced him and immediately sparked the offense. He led the unit to a swift four play drive that resulted in six points.
McNamara may be an answer on the offense moving onward and until he proves otherwise McNamara should definitely be the starter with Milton as his backup.
