The arms race is underway

Over the years, there is no question that Tom Izzo and Michigan State have recruited better than any other Big Ten basketball program and it’s not that close.

Now, it’s still true that the Wolverines have turned out most draft picks in the last 10 years, but still, the Spartans have landed a lot more five-star prospects over the years and that continued with Max Christie in 2021 and Emoni Bates, the top player overall in 2022.

Still, Howard had a higher ranking class in 2020 and since U-M has the top-ranked class in 2021, it will be ranked higher again, although Michigan State hasn’t added the same in numbers.

Still in the 2021 and 2022 classes, Michigan State has landed two five stars up to this point and so has Michigan. The two programs split last season and if recruiting is any indication, this rivalry is going to continue to be one of the best in the country.
