Michigan doesn’t have impact players

In this new age of offensive football, it’s going to be hard to limit every team to under 20 points and shut them down. But great defenses hold their own with impact plays and that’s not something Michigan football is getting.

Daxton Hill has done some nice things in coverage, but for a five-star recruit, his play leaves a lot to be desired. Through three games, he hasn’t been part of a single turnover play and for someone who should be Michigan’s best defender, that’s unacceptable.

But he’s not alone. None of the supposed impact players on this defense are making an impact. Cam McGrone is nowhere to be found and truth to be told, anytime he blitzed, Indiana just threw it right to the spot where he left, almost like they knew it was coming.

Kwity Paye got a few hurries and he’s probably been the most consistent, but everyone else has been a let down, including Aidan Hutchinson who left Saturday’s game with an injury.

This defense just doesn’t have any dudes and for all the talk of the NFL talent on that side of the ball, that talent isn’t doing diddly on the field.
