Why Michigan will win No. 1: Backs against the wall

Motivation is a huge factor and last Saturday against Michigan State, Michigan football was clearly the less motivated team. Whether it was because the Wolverines took MSU for granted is hard to say, but the Spartans clearly had more urgency.

This week, against Indiana, that team should be the Wolverines.

Not only is their head coach under fire again, but their season is at stake. The goal for Michigan is to beat Ohio State and win the Big Ten. Yet, a loss to the Hoosiers would basically end any hope of contending to win the conference.

Of course, Indiana will be motivated for that same reason, but the fact that the Hoosiers beat Penn State a couple of weeks ago, could make them a little less hungry to knock off a big-name school in the Big Ten.

Still, this Michigan team has responded well to failures in the past. We saw the wins over Iowa and Notre Dame and while this time it’s on the road, I’d expect a focused Michigan football team Saturday and one that is close to firing on all cylinders.
