Receivers/Tight Ends – C

Another game, another unspectacular performance from the pass catchers. They didn’t do anything seriously wrong, but they didn’t look great either.

All we heard from Jim Harbaugh when they lost Donovan Peoples-Jones and Nico Collins was that they liked the receivers they had. Well, so far they are definitely missing the two playmakers.

Michigan football doesn’t seem to have a deep threat right now and it shows. Milton has a big arm and needs to find more accuracy with it, but if he doesn’t have anybody to throw it to deep it doesn’t matter.

The receivers again dropped some important passes that could have helped extend drives, but other times they couldn’t haul in the bullets that Milton was firing just off line. You can’t necessarily blame the receivers for those, but it would be nice to pull in a few of them.

Milton didn’t put them in the best positions at times yesterday, but the separation wasn’t there and that is on the receivers.

This group has some guys that look like they could be good players, but they need to start making plays. It doesn’t seem like the opposing teams are all that afraid of them yet and until that happens, establishing a running game is going to be tough.
