Michigan’s hype was thoroughly unwarranted after just one week.

It’s pretty clear following week two of the season that Minnesota is not as quality of a victory as everyone thought it turned out to be. The Gophers fell to Maryland who got curb stomped by Northwestern in the opening weekend. This loss proves that no one can be taken lightly especially in a heated rivalry like this one.

Joe Milton did what he could while airing it out 51 times in the defeat. He didn’t turn the rock over, but never appeared to be as comfortable as he was a week ago. He even finished as the leading rusher which is always a bad sign for a quarterback in a loss. By forcing Milton out of the pocket it allowed the Spartan defense to control the flow of the outing.

The play calling was also abysmal to say the least. There were too many negative runs at the line of scrimmage that were wasted calls and should have been removed from the playbook immediately.

Josh Gattis went from being the toast of the town to not being able to show his face in the state over the coming year. That’s a major drop off for a coordinator who was hoping to turn the corner in his second season in command of the offense.
