Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from an uninspiring Michigan State loss
By Nick Popio
The inexperience at corner was bound to doom the defense.
The noticeable loss of Ambry Thomas was in full force for the world to see this afternoon. His replacements were torched on lengthy pass plays that were basically the outlier of the outcome.
The line didn’t do their part either to help slow down the attack. It was an all around pitiful showing from Brown’s unit.
Time and time again Michigan State abused the back end on balls that were just floating in the air for what seemed like an eternity.
Lombardi lofted up weak passes that were either caught or costly pass interference penalties got called on the Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh benched Vincent Gray in favor of Jalen Perry who also struggled when he saw the field.
It will only get worse from here on as Indiana’s heavy passing threat looms in Bloomington next Saturday. The Hoosiers have to be salivating at the mouth after watching Michigan State have their way with Michigan’s secondary. Asking for a quick fix is not an option and that is a problem no coach ever wants.
