5 Predictions for Michigan Football against Michigan State
Breakout performances from wide receivers
Outside of Ronnie Bell, no Michigan receiver went for more than 40 yards receiving and while it was nice to see nine different guys catch passes, more chunk plays would be a good thing too.
The pass defense of Michigan State wasn’t terrible against Rutgers, but it did allow a pair of explosive plays and this week, it’s even harder to see the Spartans matching up with Bell, Giles Jackson, Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, A.J. Henning and even Erick All.
Bell is probably the top target right now, but there is still a chance for other players to emerge and Jackson is a guy that feels poised to do just that.
He was close to making some big plays against Minnesota and had some drops, but he will make up for that this week, with at least a couple of electrifying plays.
The speed-in-space offense will be on full display against Michigan State and in the second week of the season, there’s good reason to think Week 2 will be even more productive, especially if these young wideouts are given more chances down the field.
