Michigan can’t overlook Michigan State

It may have been just a little bit funny to watch Mel Tucker lose to Rutgers in his head-coaching debut, but if I’m being honest, I’d rather Michigan State was coming into this game off a win.

After winning on the road, on national TV and having everyone tell the Wolverines how great they are, I worry a little about them looking past Michigan State, a team that did just lose to Rutgers.

Aidan Hutchinson and other leaders have said all the right things and there’s no question that the leadership on this team is stronger than in year’s past, just look at Ben Mason’s pre-game speech.

Obviously, things went really bad for the Spartans last week with seven turnovers. It was a complete debacle but things can’t get worse can they?

As far as the Spartans are concerned, this game is essentially their season. If they win, no matter what happens, it will be a success and that nothing-to-lose mentality is always concerning.

The Wolverines also have a ranked opponent on the docket next week (Indiana), so yes, I’m slightly worried about Michigan football overlooking Michigan State for Indiana.

Boy, things have changed in the Big Ten East haven’t they?
